Flick urges Barcelona to challenge PSG with courage and concentration

On the afternoon of Monday 19 October 2026, Barcelona's coach, Hansi Flick, spoke live on TG 17.55, emphasizing that against Paris Saint‑Germain courage and concentration will be needed. The interview was streamed with Highlights, Live, Video and Photo, included in the Sportmediaset and XXL schedule.

Defensive strategy and risks

Flick said that the team must play with confidence, as it has done in the last eleven matches, maintaining a high defensive line. “Playing with a high defensive line is always a risk, but the key lies in how we react and press when we lose possession of the ball,” he explained. He added that, if well managed, the high line offers “a huge advantage.”

Defensive options and hopes for Koundé

The coach listed the defensive alternatives: “Rodri can play centrally, Alex Campos is with us, and that’s what we have.” He then expressed optimism, hoping that Jules Koundé returns soon and can be available for the weekend, while acknowledging that “it’s not the best moment for us, but we have to accept it.”

Midfield, possession and the PSG threat

According to Flick, the midfield is the strongest unit of both teams, with “fantastic and high‑quality midfielders.” He warned that ball possession does not guarantee goals and that PSG’s transition is one of their strengths. “You must not make mistakes, you must play with courage and great concentration,” he concluded.

The coach recalled that Barcelona’s defence kept a clean sheet only once, but the team has scored many goals this season. These figures were mentioned during the segment, placed among the news of Football, Coppa Italia, Supercoppa Italiana and Champions League.

The segment also mentioned other sports featured in Sportmediaset’s programming, such as Tennis, MotoGp, Formula E, F1, Drive, and the Lifestyle, Scudetti and Area columns. Viewers could access Help, FAQ, Info, Cookie Policy and additional content via the platform.
