Filip Joos labels Gent's performance as 'strange' after his forecast

On 27 October 2026, Filip Joos told the 90 minutes podcast that he expected KAA Gent to lose 0‑3 to RSC Anderlecht, but the match finished 4‑0 to Gent, a result that was greeted with laughter during the live show in Mechelen.

Joos' forecast and Gent's dominant win

The broadcast opened with the Dutch label “League”, followed by the headings “Artikel” and “Meer”, and then the segment title “Zijn bericht werd op hoongelach onthaald”. From the Gent stadium Joos announced his belief that Anderlecht would win 0‑3, a view that provoked hoots when Gent instead triumphed 4‑0. He later explained, “Het gekke is dat op dat moment Gent niets deed”.

After eleven minutes Joos remarked, “Na elf minuten dacht ik: wauw, Anderlecht speelt sterk”. He added that Gent remained calm and were “totaal niet onder de indruk” despite being behind early on.

Co‑chairman of Sporting Hasselt praised Gent for earning credit after two defeats, noting the club sit seventh in the table. Joos suggested that a stray ball could still alter the scoreline, but the final result confirmed Gent’s superiority.

Anderlecht's lack of continuity and coaching issues

Former player Steven Defour observed that confidence at Anderlecht is “zo broos” and that the side “is zoekende, dan krijg je die ballen er niet in”. He also highlighted coach Vitor Bruno’s constantly changing basic line‑up, which prevents the development of automatism.

Joos criticised Bruno’s selection method, saying the coach “soms 11 namen uit een zak met 20 spelers trekt”, resulting in too many similar‑range players and no peaks. He mentioned the rehabilitation of Mario Stroeykens and Adriano Bertaccini, both previously told to leave by sporting director Antoine Sibierski.

Defour added that Gent have played with a “typeploeg” since the start of the season, building weekly confidence, whereas Anderlecht began well but lost young talents such as Nga Kana and Onia Seke, eroding continuity.

Other members of the 90 minutes WhatsApp group also made predictions: Hendrik Van Crombrugge correctly foresaw Nicky Hayen’s dismissal, Tuur Dierckx expressed a “zeer goed gevoel” about Real Madrid in the Clasico, and Ward Kerremans nailed the 0‑3 scoreline of the Manchester United‑Bournemouth match.

Reflecting after the game, Joos said he had witnessed “een ploeg die perfect weet wat ze is, wat ze kan en wat ze wil” in Gent, contrasted with Anderlecht, which “nog niet weet wat ze is, zeker niet wat ze kan”. The disparity suggests further challenges for the Belgian giants.
