Feyenoord Rotterdam’s silent director drives a fast‑track sales policy
While Dévy Rigaux adopts a silent, behind‑the‑scenes approach as Feyenoord Rotterdam’s new technical director, the club’s strategy under his watch pushes for rapid player sales, with a €15 million target for Sauer to fund future signings, as the Rotterdam‑watcher Martijn Krabbendam stresses the urgency of off‑loading talent to enable new acquisitions.
The new Feyenoord Rotterdam-directeur Dévy Rigaux was described as a ‘No‑man’ at 18:18 today by journalist and Rotterdam-wachter Martijn Krabbendam.
Krabbendam added that the Rotterdammers must sell players quickly if they want new signings, citing a €15 million price tag for Sauer.
"He is formal, very formal," said VI-journalist Krabbendam after meeting the new technical director.
Krabbendam also noted that Rigaux is "very nice, courteous and polite" but prefers to stay out of the media for the time being.
Rigaux, a Belg, has made clear he will not become a media personality and will work intensely behind the scenes.
According to Krabbendam, several offers for Feyenoord players have been rejected, including bids on Gjivai Zechiël and Givairo Read, while the club still retains Ayase Ueda and Anis Hadj Moussa.
He stressed that a €15 million fee for Sauer would be a "big transfer" the club still needs, underscoring the urgency of the new policy.
Krabbendam contrasted this approach with the previous era under Te Kloese, who sold the first good offer for each player, whether Wieffer or Kökçü, to generate funds for strengthening the squad.
"He wants that plain and that is the new policy," Krabbendam explained, emphasizing that without sales Feyenoord Rotterdam cannot attract reinforcements and that the Rotterdammers must act swiftly.
