Feyenoord jumps into race for Geertruida as PSV eyes defender

Today, Feyenoord announced its involvement in the pursuit of Dutch defender Lutsharel Geertruida, joining PSV in the race for the player after reports on Transfermarkt indicated PSV were close to a deal. The news emerged early this morning, with the Rotterdam side acting swiftly, as the player’s camp confirmed his desire to join Eindhoven.

Feyenoord Transfermarkt reported that the Rotterdammers acted immediately when it became known that PSV were eyeing the defender and a contract seemed imminent. The Dutch club’s quick response underscored its intent to compete with the Nederlandse topclub PSV.

Eindhovens Dagblad revealed on Thursday evening that Geertruida is eager to move to Eindhoven after PSV interest was disclosed at his camp. The outlet added that a personal agreement between the player and Eindhoven would pose no problem.

The announcement caused a noticeable shock in Rotterdam‑Zuid. Technical director Dévy Rigaux did not waste time and contacted the defender and his representatives to explore a possible return to De Kuip.

According to Feyenoord Transfermarkt, there have been no discussions between Feyenoord and RB Leipzig so far. The club’s interest has only been communicated to the player’s camp, and a concrete bid has yet to materialise.
