FC Metz mourn the passing of iconic president Carlo Molinari

FC Metz have mourned the death of their long‑serving president Carlo Molinari, who passed away aged 93. Molinari, who never played for the club, oversaw FC Metz for 34 years.
During his tenure the club won French Cups in 1984 and 1988, League Cups in 1986 and 1996, reached a celebrated European tie with FC Barcelona and finished as French league runners‑up in 1998. The club, currently tenth in Ligue 2, posted a heartfelt tribute on social media on Wednesday.
In the message, President Bernard Serin and the club’s staff offered sincere condolences to Molinari’s family and thanked him for his commitment, loyalty and humanity. A photograph from 2017 shows Molinari attending a Metz match, underscoring his lifelong connection to the team. FC Metz said further details will be released in the coming moments.
