FC Barcelona wants to secure the future of its Egyptian striker, Hamza Abdelkarim, by boosting his release clause from €15 M to €150 M after his official debut against Rayo Vallecano, a match played last Monday, and confirming his rapid rise, the Catalan club plans to extend him until June 2029.
Rapid career of the young striker
Arriving last season to play with the U19s, Hamza Abdelkarim did not take long to progress through the ranks at the club. His development was noticed from the first training sessions, where he showed efficient finishing. His integration was accelerated thanks to convincing performances with the reserve team.
He made his official first‑team debut against Rayo Vallecano, coming on the pitch last Monday and playing his first minutes with Barça. This appearance rewarded the rapid progression of the young Egyptian, who has already been selected for the 2026 World Cup.
During the pre‑season, he finished as the camp’s top scorer with four goals, but since the start of the 2026/27 season, he has played only four minutes in three La Liga matches under Hansi Flick.
Release clause negotiations
The Catalan club now wants to secure the striker’s future by raising his clause from €15 M to €150 M, a ten‑fold increase. A meeting took place on Monday with agent Christian Emile to discuss a new contract, as reported by journalist Juli Claramunt.
Barcelona initially paid €1.5 M in fixed fees for the transfer from Al Ahly. According to sources, additional payments could bring the total cost to €6 M or, according to another report, €6.5 M, depending on performance conditions.
The club wants to avoid a clause that is too low attracting other teams, as the management highlighted. At the same time, Barça must handle the situation of young Jesse Bisiwu, another talent being monitored within the club. This dual approach shows the desire to protect its promising assets while managing the risk of unexpected departures.
