Euro 2032: Malagò confirms that Stadium Torino is the only ready venue

Giovanni Malagò, commissioner of the FIGC, said in an interview with La Stampa that the Stadium Torino, also known as the Allianz Stadium, is the only Italian city that currently offers all the guarantees to host the Euro 2032 matches, a tournament that Italy will share with Turkey.

Stadium ready and compliant with all parameters

Malagò emphasized that the Allianz Stadium is already ready, meets all technical requirements and far surpasses the other projects underway. “I feel I can say that the Juventus Stadium certainly guarantees something more compared to any other project,” he stated, highlighting the superiority of the Turin project.

The bidding process and the other cities in the running

The FIGC has sent to UEFA the dossiers of the venues deemed suitable; five Italian venues are planned for Euro 2032. In addition to Turin, the other cities include Bologna, Cagliari, Milan, Rome, Bari, Florence, Genoa, Lecce, Naples, Palermo, Salerno and Verona, many of which still have to build or renovate their facilities.

The UEFA verification process will cover eleven thematic areas and about 120 operational requirements, including infrastructure, fan services, accessibility, sustainability, security, hospitality and services for media and broadcasters. Only at the end of this phase will the FIGC indicate the five final venues.

Malagò confirmed that the documentation has been sent and that the phase of dialogue with UEFA now begins. There is still no precise deadline for the final selection, but discussions with President Ceferin continue in full cooperation.

The commissioner also recalled the economic and sporting importance of hosting Euro 2032, defining it as the third most important sporting event after the Summer Olympics and the Football World Cup. “Because the Euros are the third most important sporting event…,” he said, emphasizing the opportunity for spectators, the economy and national interest.

Outside of Turin, the projects include the new Inter and Milan facility in Milan, the new Dall’Ara in Bologna, the new Cagliari stadium and the new Roma stadium in Pietralata, as well as modernization works on existing facilities.

Malagò concluded by emphasizing that stadium development is also essential for future sporting initiatives, citing Turin’s experience with the 2006 Winter Games and the ATP Finals tennis tournament.
