Elfrink calls PSV's Czech keeper's errors 'unthinkable'

🇳🇱 By 4AllFootball ·

Clubwatcher Rik Elfrink of the Eindhovens Dagblad warned today at 16:11 that Czech goalkeeper Matěj Kovář must tighten his game at PSV after the Dutch side’s 1‑3 friendly loss to Spanish club Villarreal on Saturday. The criticism came during the PSV-podcast Heet from the Herdgang, where Elfrink described the performance as 'unthinkable' and warned it keeps recurring.

Elfrink saw the Tsjechische goalie stumble during that lost friendly with Villarreal (1‑3) last Saturday, noting a lack of sharpness on a deep pass from the Spaanse opponent that directly led to a conceding goal.

“You see the ball coming from a hundred meters, man,” Elfrink said in the PSV-podcast Heet, referring to the mistake. “And then you wait so long. Well…”

He added, “You can make ten saves in a match, but you can never shine that way. This must not happen again.”

“Last week we lifted him on the shield in this podcast,” Elfrink continued, asserting that “in the Eredivisie you will not find a better one.” He reiterated that belief, saying he still holds that view.

Elfrink concluded that, in potential, Kovář can become a great keeper, despite the recent unthinkable errors that keep recurring.
