Transfers YOUTH

Eighteen-year-old Orozco adds future spark to United’s midfield rebuild

🇬🇧 By 4AllFootball ·

Eighteen‑year‑old attacking midfielder Cristian Orozco has officially become Manchester United’s sixth summer signing, confirmed on 06 Aug 2026. The 18‑year‑old will start his English career in the club’s academy, adding a youthful option to the Red Devils’ midfield pipeline.

The Colombian youngster arrives from Fortaleza CEIF, a side that competes in the Colombian Categoria Primera A. Orozco is a Colomba Under‑18 international and has been highlighted as a highly‑rated prospect for the future.

Daniel Marsh Senior Sports Reporter20:32 on Aug 06 noted that United’s statement, shared Thursday night, confirmed the teenager will initially link up with the academy. The announcement included an ImageCristian photo credited to Zohaib Alam/Manchester FC, underscoring the club’s formal rollout.

Orozco told Colombia that his strengths lie in his physicality and technique, adding that adapting to English football and learning the language are his immediate priorities. He said, "I want to arrive and learn as quickly as possible," emphasizing the need to adapt under the guidance of United’s staff.

While Orozco joins the academy, United have also reinforced the senior midfield with the arrivals of Andrey Santos from Chelsea and Youri Tielemans from Aston Villa. The club hinted that a further midfielder could be added before the transfer deadline, signalling an aggressive overhaul of the engine room.

Man and Utd supporters can now look to a blend of youth and experience as United pursue a broader market strategy, targeting emerging talent from South America while bolstering the first‑team squad with proven European players. This dual approach reflects the club’s intent to remain competitive on multiple fronts.
