Eight‑month ban lifted: Napoli ultras cleared for Genova trip

Permission from Il Viminale means Napoli’s ultras can travel to Genova for the first time in eight months, ending a ban that followed highway clashes with Lazio supporters. The clearance paves the way for a large contingent of blue fans to join the match at Marassi.

Viminale lifts eight‑month ban

Il Viminale evaluated all aspects of the Genoa‑Napoli fixture and gave the go‑ahead for supporters from Napoli to attend. The original report was tagged with the code “Stampa A− A+”, confirming the administrative approval. The decision opens the guest sector for the blue crowd.

Fans expected to swell to nearly 3,000

The guest sector is sold out, with 1 650 tickets already purchased by Napoli fans. Organisers say the total number of supporters could even approach 3 000, creating a sizeable presence in Liguria’s Marassi stadium. The high demand reflects the enthusiasm of residents and travelling fans alike.

The ban stemmed from clashes on the A1 highway between Napoli ultras heading to Turin for a Juventus match and Lazio ultras returning from Lecce. After those incidents, Viminale imposed an eight‑month prohibition on Napoli supporters travelling to Genova.

Relations between the blue Napoli fans and the red‑and‑black Genoa supporters are described as one of great mutual respect. Both groups will enter the stadium together, reinforcing friendship and possibly singing songs by Gigi D’Alessio and Alfa as a joint parade.

Beyond the festive atmosphere, the match carries important football stakes for both sides. Each club will look to secure a positive result in this early‑season encounter in Liguria.
