Eberechi Eze's Arsenal future hinges on ‘very disappointing’ label

Eberechi Eze has decided on his Arsenal future after a former Premier League scout described his recent displays as “very disappointing”. The attacking midfielder has started only twice in the Gunners’ eight Premier League matches this season.
Limited starts in domestic and European competition
Eze’s involvement has been sporadic. In the Champions League he has featured in the starting XI on two occasions, while his Premier League starts total just two.
He has yet to register a goal or an assist in the league, but has already scored twice in Europe, finding the net against Lille and Bayern Munich.
These modest returns have sparked concerns about his impact in domestic football, especially given his high profile and transfer fee.
Insiders’ contrasting views
Football Insider’s Pete O’Rourke says the midfielder is not worried about his playing time and believes his European goals will improve his prospects. O’Rourke wrote that Eze “is happy there”.
“He had a disappointing game against Nottingham Forest in the Premier League. That’s why he was taken off at half‑time, but he wasn’t the only one to struggle in that game,” O’Rourke quoted. “Before that, he started against Lille in the Champions League and scored, then came off the bench against Bayern Munich in mid‑week to replace the injured Bukayo Saka and scored as well.”
Former Arsenal director Bryan King, however, expressed clear disappointment. He told Football Insider that he expected Eze to “get forward and score spectacular goals” and to be a regular presence in the box.
King added, “He was very disappointing against Nottingham Forest. His performance was very disappointing. When you’re a full England international you cost big money – you shouldn’t be pulled off at half‑time unless you’re injured.”
Despite the criticism, Eze himself remains unconcerned about minutes and has reached a decision on his future with the club.
