Dual-national striker Nicolo Tresoldi weighs Italy against Germany

Nicolo Tresoldi, one of Europe’s most exciting strikers, has made his Entscheidung to represent Italy at senior level. The dual‑citizen forward, who grew up at Club Brugge and most recently featured for Germany’s U21 side, received Roberto Mancini’s approval and now awaits FIFA’s clearance, leaving Germany’s coach Jürgen Klopp without a coveted option.

Because of his dual Staatsbürgerschaft, Tresoldi is eligible for either the German or the Italian Nationalmannschaft. The Angreifer developed in the Jugend at Club Brugge before moving to the DFB setup, where he most recently appeared for the U21 side.

His Entscheidung to join the Italian A‑Nationalmannschaft has now been made public. The forward, counted among the most exciting Stürmern in European Fußball, will swap his Germany U21 future for Italy’s senior squad.

Trainer Roberto Mancini has already given his “Ja”, as reported by Gazetta and Sport, signalling the Angreifer’s future with the Squadra Azzurra. The move now awaits FIFA’s green light before the player can officially change allegiance.

Italian senior call‑up confirmed

According to the Gazetta dello Sport, Tresoldi is expected to feature for Italy’s A‑Nationalmannschaft in the next international break. The announcement points to a rapid integration into the senior set‑up, with the player’s Zukunft now tied to the Italian side.

German squad left with a striker gap

Die Entscheidung is a bitter blow for the DFB and head coach Jürgen Klopp, who had hoped to call up Tresoldi for September fixtures. Germany currently relies on Deniz Undav as a reliable anchor, while Kai Havertz and Nick Woltemade have shown inconsistent form, and the Arsenal Angreifer is not a classic Stürmer.

During the summer, several top clubs – Borussia Dortmund, RB Leipzig and Atletico Madrid – were linked with Tresoldi, underscoring his reputation as a leading Stürmer in the football market. Their interest highlights the potential impact of his move on both his club future and international Zukunft.

In contrast, Italy secures a promising forward for its future, while Germany loses a coveted option, illustrating how a single Entscheidung can reshape the striker landscape for two neighbouring football powers.
