Draw night sets the stage for Chelsea and Tottenham in the Carabao Cup

The Carabao Cup second‑round draw is set for tonight, with both Chelsea and Tottenham confirmed as participants. The draw will commence at approximately 7:20 pm on Monday, August 10, after the final first‑round game between Plymouth Argyle and Exeter City. This marks the next step in the English football season’s cup competition.

Second‑round draw timing

The draw for Round Two will be held on Monday, August 10, and the ball‑picking will start at about 7:20 pm. It will take place before the Plymouth Argyle‑Exeter City match, which is the end of the first‑round fixtures. Fans can follow the match live. Chelsea and Tottenham are among eleven Premier League clubs entering at this stage, both having missed out on European competition last season. This structure aims to balance travel demands and competitive fairness. The draw will be held live from Home Park. Other Premier League sides joining include Newcastle, Nottingham Forest, Leeds, Everton, Brentford, Fulham, Coventry, Ipswich and Hull. Both clubs will now face the possibility of a huge tie in the second round.

Regional draw format

The Caraboo Cup maintains the same regional split as the first round, dividing teams into Northern and Southern sections. Clubs will be drawn against opponents from the same region, with the format changing in the third round when all teams can be paired regardless of location. This structure aims to balance travel demands and competitive fairness.

The draw will be broadcast live on Football as part of their match coverage from Home Park. talkSPORT and its website will also provide live commentary, with the talkSPORT app offering streaming options. The image accompanying the coverage is credited to Getty, underscoring the media partnership.

After the draw, clubs will learn their opponents, potentially facing a major upset as nine other Premier League sides could be at risk. West Ham appears among the Southern section clubs, highlighting the breadth of competition. The end of the first round now gives way to the anticipation of second‑round match‑ups for both Chelsea and Tottenham.
