Dortmund clinches Karetsas medical while El Mala remains stalled

Greek attacker Konstantinos Karetsas has passed his Borussia Dortmund medical, a milestone that puts the summer signing on track, while the club’s pursuit of Köln youngster Said El Mala continues to linger without a firm timetable.

Westphalia’s Ruhr Nachrichten newspaper the Greek forward cleared the Dortmund examination, confirming the player’s readiness to join the German side.

Genk is set to receive €30 million for Karetsas, with an additional €2 million in performance‑related bonuses attached to the deal, outlining the financial structure agreed between the clubs.

BVB sporting director Nils-Ole Book remained behind as Dortmund embarked on their current Asia tour, using the trip to finalise summer acquisitions and demonstrating the new personnel executive’s ability to close at least one key deal.

The move for Köln starlet Said El Mala, however, remains unresolved; Book is not expected to seal the El Mala transfer in the near term, highlighting a contrasting pace in Dortmund’s transfer activity.

With the medical completed, only the final contractual formalities and an official club announcement stand between Karetsas and his debut for Borussia Dortmund.
