Del Genio warns SSC Napoli tightens transfer rope as window shrinks
Journalist Paolo Del Genio told Canale 8 that SSC Napoli’s transfer market remains blocked despite a €30 million sale of Il Gutierrez, with several surplus players still awaiting a solution as the summer window nears its close and the club’s approach has become considerably stricter than last summer.
Del Genio noted that last summer SSC Napoli would have instantly satisfied a €30 million demand with €35 million offers, a rapid acceptance that contrasts sharply with the current stance.
He said the club is now “tightening the rope” on both incoming and outgoing deals, deliberately refusing to act as quickly as it did previously.
Several players remain in surplus, still waiting for a resolution while only 25 days remain before the transfer window shuts.
Del Genio warned that the club may extend negotiations until mid‑August, after which it could be forced to accept any condition or keep surplus players on the payroll, continuing to pay their wages.
The analysis appeared under the Google Discover Preferred Sources A–A+ heading, highlighting persistent uncertainty about the squad composition.
