Iker Luque scores on Atlético debut at Valencia

Iker Luque Sierra, born 5 June 2005 in Madrid, made his first‑team debut for Atlético de Madrid at the Mestalla Stadium. He opened the scoring in a 1‑0 victory over Valencia.

The appearance added to more than six academy graduates featured by Atlético this season. The Vallecas‑born youngster displayed speed, dribbling and confidence throughout the match.

Diego Simeone greeted Luque with a hug after the goal. Luque dedicated the performance to his grandfather, who had taken him to Alcalá for his early training.

Luque’s family watched from the stands and celebrated his strike. He later returned to his neighbourhood to celebrate with his longtime friends.

The win positions Atlético for the upcoming promotion play‑off to Segunda. The side is now led by former club idol Fernando Torres as head coach.
