Cvetkovic began the encounter on the bench, a surprise to many supporters who expected a starting role. When introduced, he contributed to the 3-1 win that ensured Anderlecht’s progress in the Europa competition.

Trainer Vitor Bruno explained that the striker missed a few days of preparation due to minor physical issues, which left him behind in the early training schedule. This setback, Bruno said, justified the decision to start him on the bench.

"Ik ben niet verrast," Cvetkovic replied when asked about his substitute status. "I just try to do my best each time. This was the coach’s choice."

After the break, Anderlecht transformed the game and Cvetkovic played a central part in the resurgence. Yet he deflected praise to his teammates, stating, "No, I can’t say I changed the match. The team was great. This win belongs to the whole squad, not just me."

Vitor later joked that he might keep the striker on the bench more often if he continues to respond this way. "Zo zet ik hem elke keer op de bank," he laughed, referencing his own bench‑policy.

The Servi forward also noted that his role in attack is flexible, whether playing alone or alongside two other strikers. "For me it’s the same. We have a good connection with Dani, but also with Bertaccini, Degreef or Stroeykens. It doesn’t matter," he said.

De fans at Lotto Park enjoyed the atmosphere, and Cvetkovic added, "The fans were amazing, it was beautiful."

Anderlecht’s victory secured their place in the next Europa League. Voor round, confirming the club’s continued European ambitions and highlighting the impact of the bench‑player’s performance.
