Como’s €30m gamble on Chalobah could reshape its finances

🇬🇧 By 4AllFootball ·

Il Como are on the verge of securing English defender Trevoh Chalobah after a weeks‑long pursuit, with the Serie B side will meet Chelsea’s asking price of €30 million plus possible bonuses. The proposed five‑year deal would see the player on a €3.6 million net annual salary.

According to the latest rumours, the club has approached the English defender and is preparing a final push to convince Chelsea to release him. The negotiations are described as the last relaunch needed to clinch the transfer.

The move would represent another high‑level operation for Il Como, which has already completed several signings this window. Notably, the club succeeded in retaining the young talent Nico Paz amid the activity.

Financial details suggest the transfer fee is set at €30 million, with additional performance‑related bonuses possible. This figure marks a significant outlay for the Serie B outfit.

If Chalobah signs a contract running to 2031, the €30 million fee will be amortised over five seasons, resulting in an annual charge of €6 million before any bonuses are triggered.

The player’s remuneration is reported to be €3.6 million net per season, equivalent to €6.66 million gross. These salary figures will be added to the amortisation cost.

Combining amortisation and salary, the total projected expense for the 2026/27 season would reach €12.66 million, a substantial commitment for Il Como’s budget.
