Como's €30m bid for Chalobah fuels Chelsea's Lacroix reshuffle
Italian club Como have lodged a €25 million guaranteed offer, plus €5 million in bonuses – a total €30 million – for Premier League side Chelsea centre‑back Trevoh Chalobah, on Friday, as the Blues complete the €60 million signing of Crystal Palace defender Maxence Lacroix in a busy transfer window.
Como are led by former midfielder Cesc Fabregas, who view the English defender as a key addition to a side chasing Champions League football. While the Serie A club had previously been linked with Inter, the new bid positions Como as the likely destination for Chalobah.
The proposal consists of a €25 million guaranteed fee plus €5 million in performance‑related bonuses. Calciomercato.com an agreement in principle on Chalobah’s salary terms is already in place.
Fabrizio Romano notes that Chalobah is ‘keen’ on the idea of moving to Como. The midfielder’s enthusiasm adds weight to the negotiations.
Chelsea owners Boehly and Walter eye share sale, sparking Blues overhaul
Earlier in the transfer window both Inter and Como expressed interest in a Serie A move for Chalobah, but the latest offer makes Como the front‑runner. Romano adds that the deal could be finalised this summer, subject to personal terms.
Chelsea’s €60 million acquisition of Maxence Lacroix pushes Chalobah further down the pecking order at Stamford Bridge, meaning the defender could be on his way out of the Blues’ squad. A sale would free up space and potentially generate funds for the club.
The Blues finished the 2025‑26 campaign in 10th place and will miss European competition next term, reducing the need for additional squad depth. This context underlines why Chelsea may be willing to let Chalobah depart.
For Como, securing Chalobah would strengthen their defence as they aim for European qualification in the Serie A campaign. The addition aligns with their ambition to compete at the highest level.
