Club Brugge shatters records while still knocking on Genk' door

Club Brugge has enjoyed an unprecedentedly busy summer on the transfer market, breaking records with the sale of Christos Tzolis to Arsenal for roughly €40 million, yet the club continues to knock persistently on Genk' door, seeking further deals this season.

The €40 million transfer of Christos Tzolis to Arsenal set a new benchmark for Club Brugge’s outgoing business. It marked the club’s most lucrative sale to date.

Subsequent deals added €23 million from Aleksandar Stankovic, €9 million from Raphael Onyedika, €5 million from Zaid Romero and €1.5 million from Shandre Campbell, bringing total incoming funds to about €90 million. All transactions were completed at Jan Breydel Stadium.

The prospect of reaching the €100 million threshold grows as Cisse Sandra is set to join KVC Westerlo and further outgoing moves involving Joel Ordonez, Joaquin Seys and others are anticipated. These sales would push the club’s summer earnings over the coveted mark.

Nicolo Tresoldi is expected to stay, although rumours cite enormous sums attached to his potential departure. His retention underscores the club’s strategic balance between profit and squad stability.

On the incoming side, Club Brugge is eager to sign a new winger quickly. While Baidoo appears increasingly elusive, Romain Esse and Noah Adedeji‑Sternberg remain on the radar, with a personal agreement already reached with Adedeji‑Sternberg.

Genk continues to resist, keeping the door firmly shut, and no agreement has been reached with Crystal Palace either. Meanwhile, a deal involving Potts is drawing nearer.
