Clarifying the ‘Olise’ joke: Falk on Real Madrid’s Bayern talks
Christian Falk, a German journalist for CF Bayern Insider, clarifies the Real Madrid president’s “Olise” comment made to Bayern chief Herbert Hainer at the Santiago Bernabeu. The clarification comes amid one of the most intriguing transfer speculations linking Bayern Munich star Michael Olise with the Merengues.
The Frenchman has had an excellent season with the Bavarian side in the Bundesliga, shining on the right wing. His best position being the right wing makes him a suitable candidate for the Merengues, complementing Vinicius Junior on the left and Kylian Mbappe in the centre of the attack. Together they would create an attack that many consider the most fearsome in Europe.
He also continues to shine in the World Cup 2026 with the French national team, adding international pedigree. Real Madrid have published an official statement that they are not in negotiations with Olise and would only start talks after a nod from Bayern. Bayern Munich, meanwhile, has made it clear that their star forward is not for sale.
Merengue President Florentino Perez met Herbert Hainer at the Santiago Bernabeu, and reports suggest Perez said, “In the end, you will have to sell Olise to me”. Falk confirms the meeting took place and agrees the comment was likely made, but stresses it was a light‑hearted joke from the Spaniard, not a statement of intent. The two clubs already have an agreement that the Merengues will not make any moves for Olise this summer.
Consequently, Michael Olise is highly unlikely to join Real Madrid this summer, though future plans could be discussed after Bayern’s consent. Any eventual move would need to be notified to Hainer first, preserving the historic relationship between the two European clubs.
