City legend John Stones' Serie move to Inter Milan

🇬🇧 By 4AllFootball ·

Inter Milan have moved to strengthen a defence weakened by recent injuries by signing former Manchester City stalwart John Stones. The English centre‑back joins on a three‑year contract running to June 2028, marking his first Serie A season after a decade at City.

Stones spent ten seasons with Manchester City, culminating in the 2025‑26 campaign as his final year at the club. During that period he collected every major trophy on offer and was a pivotal member of Pep Guardiola’s side, cementing his status as a City legend.

He also featured prominently for England at this summer’s World Cup, reinforcing his reputation as one of the country’s elite centre‑backs.

Stones left Manchester City when his contract expired at the end of the 2025‑26 season, becoming a free agent after a decade of service.

Inter Milan have officially confirmed the signing, announcing that Stones is now an Inter Milan player under a deal that runs until June 2028, reflecting the club’s confidence despite recent injury concerns.

Serie A is generally regarded as less physically demanding than the Premier League, a factor that should suit Stones in the latter stages of his career. The move offers him a new tactical environment while reducing the strain of weekly high‑intensity matches.

The past two seasons saw Stones battle constant injury issues, limiting his playing time. A less demanding league is hoped to alleviate these problems and allow him to regain full fitness.

When fully fit, Stones remains an elite centre‑back deserving to play at a big club, and Inter provides that platform.

The contrast between his decorated City legacy and the fresh challenge in Italy highlights a career transition that will test his adaptability, with fans of both clubs watching eagerly to see how his abilities translate to Serie A.
