Charleroi faces three key suspensions as verdict dates loom

🇧🇪 By 4AllFootball Editorial ·

Charleroi and Standard are at the centre of a disciplinary saga, and Voici the timeline for the pending verdicts. The incidents that erupted at the end of last season’s match between Standard and Charleroi have triggered a series of sanctions that will be handed down in the coming weeks.

The match, which saw the Zèbres embroiled in violent scenes, prompted the Comité disciplinaire de l'Union Belge to act. The committee imposed a €10,000 fine on Charleroi and banned Liégeois supporters from travelling to Charleroi until 30 June 2028.

Standard issued a statement on 1 July announcing it would appeal the decision after learning the Parquet of the Belgian Union had also filed an appeal. The appeal will be examined by the Conseil Disciplinaire for Football Professionnel on Friday 17 July.

Charleroi’s situation is equally precarious, with three players under threat. Mohamed Koné faces four matches of suspension, while the Parquet has requested three‑match bans for Aurélien Scheidler and Check Keita.

Sporting has called the potential suspensions disproportionate. SudInfo reported that Charleroi’s case will be re‑examined on 27 July, roughly ten days before the restart of the Pro League season.
