Cambridge United reinforce backline with free‑transfer Patrick Bauer
Cambridge United have secured central defender Patrick Bauer on a free transfer from AFC Wimbledon, signing the 33‑year‑old to a one‑year contract after he made 30 appearances for the Dons last season, as the newly‑promoted side prepares for its League One campaign.
Neil Harris said the defender brings experience, leadership qualities and a real desire to help the club develop and improve in this division. The comment was posted on the Cambridge United website. The newly‑promoted side are looking to bolster their squad for the higher level.
Patrick Bauer is 33 years old. He left AFC Wimbledon after his contract expired. He agreed a one‑year deal with Cambridge United.
Bauer made 30 appearances for Wimbledon in all competitions last season. He joined Wimbledon after spells with Preston North End and Charlton Athletic. He was out of contract with the Dons when he departed.
The free transfer adds a seasoned centre‑back to Cambridge United’s roster without a fee. For Bauer, the one‑year contract secures his place in League One for the coming season.
