Calciomercato Napoli: Schalke rekindles Lindstrom pursuit
Jesper Lindstrom, the Danish striker, remains club‑less after failing to convince coach Massimiliano Allegri during Napoli’s training camp, and the latest Calciomercato reports suggest Schalke 04 have revived talks about a possible move.
Schalke 04 renews interest
According to Il Mattino, agents for Lindstrom say Schalke 04 have contacted them again, raising hopes that the stalled transfer could finally be completed. The German club had previously abandoned the deal at the start of August.
The original negotiation collapsed after Lindstrom arrived in Germany for medical examinations, when Schalke accused Napoli of altering the verbal agreement hours before the deal’s conclusion. Napoli categorically denied this version of events.
Napoli maintains that Schalke withdrew because of unforeseen internal technical requirements, not because of any breach by the Italian side. Earlier, a return to Danimarca was floated as an alternative, but that option never materialised.
The story was first highlighted in a Stampa A− A+ report that captured the unfolding saga. The club’s denial underscores the ongoing dispute over the failed transfer.
