Deichstube, the Werder Bremen fan site, stated that Holsgrove is not a serious candidate for the Hanseatic city‑state club. The Scottish midfielder does not match the profile required to replace leading scorer Jens Stage. An earlier report linking him to Bremen, published by Britain's Telegraph, was dismissed as unfounded.

Hamburg and Augsburg are the clubs most frequently linked with Holsgrove, according to Portugal’s Record. Both clubs have several defensive‑midfield options, yet the €3.5 million asking price makes the 23‑year‑old an appealing prospect. Reports of interest from HSV and FCA have so far lacked substance.

Werder Bremen continue to scout multiple midfielders to succeed Jens Stage, who is rumored to be considering a move to Hoffenheim. Deichstube highlights Mattias Svanberg of relegated Wolfsburg as the strongest replacement option.

Holsgrove is under contract with Estoril until June 2028 and is valued at €5 million. The €3.5 million asking price therefore represents a discount to his valuation.
