Bruscolotti defends Allegri and praises Di Lorenzo after Napoli centenary
Former Napoli captain Giuseppe Bruscolotti says the lingering scepticism towards coach Massimo Allegri is unjust, putting the manager under pressure even as the club celebrates its historic centenary, and he adds that he found Di Lorenzo to be a good captain and a fine young man.
In an Intervista for Radio Punto Nuovo, Beppe Bruscolotti reflected on the special night in Piazza del Plebiscito that revived many moments of his sixteen‑year stay in Napoli. He described the affection of the fans as extraordinary and said meeting them again after many years was always emotional.
He said he found Di Lorenzo well, calling him a good guy and a good captain. They joked together and Bruscolotti told him that the captain represents a very important figure inside a team.
Regarding Ferlaino and De Laurentiis, he said they are different figures but both fundamental for Napoli. He had the fortune to live close to the Ferlaino period, while De Laurentiis earned the merit of bringing Napoli to very high levels.
On Allegri, Bruscolotti said he does not understand all the scepticism. He noted the coach has won many titles and reached two Champions League finals, and that judgments should wait and respect the work he is doing.
He stressed that a solid defence needs players in the best possible physical condition. He recalled that last season some players had problems and any market intervention must target profiles that guarantee physical robustness.

Bruscolotti hopes Napoli can continue to grow and improve in Europe, and that any future signings will meet the physical standards he outlined.
