Bruggink predicts Ajax duo will flip the Eredivisie upside down
Former professional Arnold Bruggink says the Ajax duo of Julian Brandt and Tolu Arokodare will turn the Eredivisie upside down, insisting ‘Zij gaan de Eredivisie ondersteboven spelen’ as the Dutch side pushes for the league title. He highlighted their impact after Ajax secured the German international on a three‑year deal and praised Arokodare’s physical presence.
Bruggink observes that Ajax are throwing everything at the league title and expects a high return from their recent acquisitions. He believes the club’s ambition leaves little room for doubt about their objectives. The former FC Twente and PSV player notes that the squad’s depth will be tested throughout the campaign.
Bruggink began his analysis, saying, “When you look at what is happening in the Eredivisie right now and what Jordi Cruijff is doing, apart from all the financial risks, it makes you very curious.” He added, “He is betting fully that Ajax must become champion; there seems to be no other option, the wage bill is soaring, and it is inconceivable that Ajax will finish outside the top two.”

“Julian Brandt is truly a gorgeous player to watch, and I really think he can turn the Eredivisie upside down,” Bruggink continued. The German international’s technical ability and vision fit Ajax’s attacking philosophy perfectly.
Ajax surprised many last week by securing the 48‑cap German on a three‑year permanent deal. The move was announced as a major boost to the club’s offensive options.

Bruggink also expects a lot from Tolu Arokodare, saying he can run past everyone in the Eredivisie while also possessing good footballing skills. He argued that pairing Arokodare with Brandt up front, and possibly adding Gloukh on the left, could create a formidable attacking line.
