Bruges on track to match €48 million of the previous season

Club Brugge has gotten off to a perfect start in its Champions League campaign, posting two wins in three matches. This momentum is already translating into substantial revenue, and the club could, by maintaining its current eleventh place, match the €48 million bonuses received last season.

The Champions League participation bonus amounts to €18.62 million. The victories over Inter Milan and RC Lens added an additional €4.2 million. A mechanism called “value pillar” also redistributes television rights and European coefficients to the clubs.

UEFA prize distribution

By staying in eleventh place in the ranking, Bruges would receive roughly €7.15 million in ranking‑related prize money. A spot in the top 16 would guarantee an additional €1 million, as would qualification for the knockout round play‑offs.

According to estimates, adding the revenue from the “value pillar” could bring the total to, or even exceed, the €48 million collected last season. This estimate remains contingent on the final ranking and the definitive prize distribution by UEFA.

Upcoming challenges and sporting stakes

Each win in the group stage yields €2.1 million, while a draw brings in €700 000. With five matches still to play, Club Brugge can significantly boost its European revenue.

The upcoming fixtures against PSV, Liverpool and Napoli look particularly tough. The Blauw en Zwart will need to continue their good performances to maintain their favorable position.

In the group, the top eight teams advance directly to the round of 16, while clubs ranked 9th to 24th contest the play‑offs. Even a 24th place, the last spot to qualify for the play‑offs, would guarantee roughly €3.58 million in ranking prize money.

If the Bruges side extends their European adventure, new bonuses could further swell the club’s coffers, thereby strengthening their financial situation.
