Sommer's inclusion highlights the quality of his performance against Lens, a match that ended with a 3-0 scoreline. UEFA highlighted his good distributions and his saves in the first half, describing him as the key goalkeeper of the encounter.

Besides Sommer, the weekly roundup highlighted renowned forwards such as Harry Kane and Kylian Mbappé, recalling the level of brilliance expected in the Champions League.

Nicolo Tresoldi's Journey

Nicolo Tresoldi, the first Brussels native to make the team of the week, had already been honored the previous week after a hat‑trick against Internazionale. His performance boosted his market value and was praised by the press.

Several newspapers gave him a perfect score of 10 out of 10, highlighting his offensive omnipresence and his sense of positioning in the opponent's box.

“Hans Vanaken received the Man of the Match award, but I believe it should have gone to Sommer, just like the previous week,” said Tom Boudeweel, sports analyst.

Thorgan Hazard also commented on the presence of a Brussels player in the eleven, stating: “I know him very well, it’s a real pleasure to see him shine.”
