Bowie Serie loan tests Sassuolo’s purchase plans ahead of next season

Scottish striker Kieron Bowie, 23, joins Unione Sportiva Sassuolo Calcio on a season‑long loan from Hellas Verona with an option to buy that may turn into an obligation if performance conditions are met. The move follows his January arrival at Verona after leaving Hibernian, and he has already netted four goals in Serie A for the Italian side.

Sassuolo pursued Bowie to fill a clear gap in their attack, as the Gialloblù have struggled for goals from existing forwards and need a proven scorer to bolster a thin attacking line‑up.

During his short spell at Hellas Verona, Bowie recorded four Serie A goals, demonstrating his ability to find the net at Italy’s highest level and justifying the club’s interest.

Bowie began his senior career at Hibernian, where he starred at Easter Road before moving to Italy, and he earned his first Scotland cap in June 2025 against Liechtenstein, adding international experience to Sassuolo’s options.

Verona announced the loan, stating that the striker has joined Unione Sportiva Sassuolo Calcio with an obligation to purchase upon fulfilment of the stipulated conditions, and the club thanked him for his contributions.

Sassuolo’s technical staff are now monitoring the performance criteria that will trigger the permanent transfer, viewing the loan as a chance for Bowie to prove himself in Italy’s top flight.

If the conditions are satisfied, the loan will convert into a permanent deal, giving Bowie a stable platform in Serie A while providing Sassuolo with a confirmed goal‑scorer, and Verona can move forward having secured a suitable replacement.
