Henk Brugge appointed as Telstar head coach
Henk Brugge has been appointed head coach of Telstar. He replaces Anthony Correia, who departed for FC Utrecht. The appointment was announced by technical manager Peter Hofstede on Tuesday.
Hofstede said Brugge matches Telstar’s DNA and will continue the club’s entertaining style. He presented Brugge after meeting with several coaching candidates.
Brugge is 48 years old and spent the past three seasons as assistant at sc Heerenveen. He also worked with the youth setups of the KNVB, Feyenoord and PEC Zwolle. The Telstar role is his first as an Eredivisie head coach.
Under Correia, Telstar played entertaining football and secured two wins over league champions PSV. The club’s Eredivisie status was only confirmed on the final matchday of the previous season.
Brugge said he has a realistic view of the expectations and the player group. He praised the club’s focus on development and its family, small‑scale environment. He sees the appointment as his chance to lead a team in the Eredivisie.
Hofstede, Brugge and former captain Mitch Apau, now head of scouting, will work on assembling an Eredivisie‑worthy squad. Increased budgets and the club’s recent top‑flight performances have boosted its attractiveness to players.
