Bayern's late equaliser halts Arsenal's record run in Champions League

At the Allianz Arena on Wednesday, Declan Rice's low strike past Manuel Neuer in the 82nd minute secured a 2‑2 draw as Bayern Munich and Arsenal split points in a UEFA Champions League Phase clash. Alphonso Davies had opened the scoring in the 35th and Harry Kane equalised from the spot in the 61st.

Eberechi Eze gave Arsenal the lead after 25 minutes, only for Davies to level five minutes later. Kane, Tottenham's all‑time record scorer, converted a Pen after Jurrien Timber's handball and then provided the assist that set up Davies' opener. The English captain, tipped for the Ballon d’Or on Monday, added his 16th goal in 23 career outings against Arsenal.

Bayern's group standing

Having lost last season's final to Paris Saint‑Germain on penalties, Bayern Munich entered the match needing points to stay on course. The German side now sit on five PTS after three games, with a +5 goal difference, while Arsenal sit on seven PTS and a +4 goal difference.

Both clubs fielded 4‑2‑3‑1 formations. Bayern’s line‑up featured Neuer; Stanisic, Upamecano, Kim and Alphonso Davies; Laimer and Pavlovic; Gnabry, Saibari and Bischof; with Harry Kane leading the attack. Arsenal started Raya; Jurrien Timber, Konsa, Gabriel and Calafiori; Bruno Guimaraes and Declan Rice; Saka, Martin Ødegaard and Madueke; and Kai Havertz up front. Referee Massimo Massa oversaw the game.

Points table snapshot

The official Gamecast Recap listed Team and Player Stats, confirming Bayern (MUN) and Arsenal (ARS) each added a point to their tallies. The table shows Bayern with 5 PTS and Arsenal with 7 PTS after the third matchday of the Phase.

Arsenal’s unbeaten start to the competition, following back‑to‑back victories over Napoli and Lille, ended with the draw, snapping a 14‑game winning streak in the UCL League Phase – the second longest after Bayern in competition history.

Both sides remain in contention for the knockout rounds, with the draw keeping Arsenal atop their group and Bayern within striking distance. Fans can Email the club for further details, and the Gamecast Recap continues to update the evolving statistics.
