Batrakov’s double drives Galatasaray to dominant Champions League win

Galatasaray delivered a masterclass at RAMS Park, securing a vital 2–0 win over German side VfB Stuttgart in UEFA Champions League Matchday 4 on Tuesday evening.
The night’s star was 21‑year‑old Russian international Aleksey Batrakov, who struck twice in the opening 15 minutes to silence the visitors and give Okan Buruk’s side their second consecutive European triumph.
Stuttgart’s early setbacks
Stuttgart suffered an early setback when Jamie Leweling’s effort hit both posts, but the Lions quickly capitalised on defensive instability.
In the 8th minute, a mistake by Stuttgart centre‑back Jeff Chabot let Batrakov pounce inside the box, firing a powerful right‑footed strike into the top corner.
Seven minutes later Batrakov completed his double, slipping the ball through goalkeeper Fabian Bredlow’s legs after a rapid transition.
The brace raised Batrakov’s season tally to five goals in his last six appearances across all competitions.
Stuttgart thought they had halved the deficit when Chris Führich scored in the second half, but the goal was overturned after a VAR off‑side check.
The victory lifts Galatasaray into a strong Champions League position ahead of upcoming fixtures and extends their winning streak to five matches in all competitions.
