Barcelona's women's run ends after 350 days, giving rivals hope

On Sunday, FC Barcelona's women suffered their first defeat in almost exactly a year, when they lost 1-2 in the league match against Real Sociedad. Despite a 1-0 lead, they could not hold onto the result.
End of a historic run
The defeat ended Barcelona's impressive run of 45 unbeaten games. It was also the first loss since a 0-1 defeat to the same opponent exactly 350 days ago.
In the previous season, the team built around star player Aitana Bonmati had won the Champions League, the Spanish league title, the Copa de la Reina and the Super Cup, and had lost only once – also against Real Sociedad.
Real Madrid break Barcelona's unbeaten run at Camp Nou
After the setback, Bonmati and her teammates remain at the top of the table with 18 points from seven games, two points ahead of Real Madrid.
The loss marks a rare moment for the dominant team, which had shown little weakness so far. However, the coaching staff and the players emphasized that the season is far from decided.
Barcelona's women now turn their focus to the upcoming league matches, aiming to defend the lead and surprise the tense competition.
