Transfer journalist Fabrizio Romano has disclosed that Barcelona will not sell Fermin Lopez to Manchester United, despite recent reports linking the Spaniard with a move to Old Trafford.
Midfield priorities at United
Manchester United allocated most of their summer transfer budget to three midfield signings – Youri Tielemans, Carlos Baleba and Andrey Santos – all of whom have already arrived at Old Trafford.
The club now aims to strengthen its defence in the coming transfer windows after conserving funds this summer.
Nevertheless, claimed on Friday that United have shown interest in Barcelona’s attacking midfielder Fermin, who is valued at around £70m.
Romano later clarified that Barcelona consider Fermin “absolutely untouchable” amid United’s interest.

In a video posted on X, Romano said: “Despite reports over the recent days, Fermin Lopez is absolutely untouchable for Barcelona. All the stories about a Premier League switch are being played down by Barca and those close to the player.”
He added that Fermin is “very happy at Barcelona”, having signed a new deal a few months ago, and that he is a “crucial player for Barcelona”, with director Deco emphasising his importance for the present and future.
Romano concluded that “Fermin Lopez is 100 percent staying at Barcelona”.

Manchester United head coach Michael Carrick reinstated Fernandes in the starting XI for the Saturday trip to Chelsea as the Red Devils look to turn a corner.
