Barcelona eyes cash boost as Casado stalls Milan move
Barcelona are keen to turn midfielder Marc Casado into a revenue source as the club looks to offset a crowded midfield and fund future projects. The 22‑year‑old La Masia graduate has seen his minutes dwindle under manager Hansi Flick, sitting behind Pedri, Frenkie de Jong, Marc Bernal and Gavi in the pecking order.
Flick also favoured Eric Garcia and Dani Olmo in midfield last season, leaving Casado with few opportunities to showcase his talent.
Italian agency representative Jorge Mendes has placed the Spaniard on AC Milan’s radar, with the Serie A giants reportedly preparing a formal approach.
Despite the interest, Casado has turned down the possibility of joining the Rossoneri, according to reports relayed by AS. The midfielder said he still hopes to fight for a place in Flick’s plans, even though the depth chart suggests otherwise.
Outside Italy, Saudi Arabian side Al Hilal have monitored Casado closely, even discussing his potential role in a Joao Cancelo swap. In England, Manchester United have shown interest following the departure of Casemiro and an injury to Manuel Ugarte. Atletico Madrid are also admirers, though rivalry between the clubs could complicate any move.
With no confirmed deal and Barcelona unlikely to guarantee regular playing time, Casado’s future remains uncertain. The summer window will determine whether the midfielder secures a transfer abroad or remains on the Catalan roster.
