Balogun steps into Monaco’s Conference League squad as Fati withdraws

In the Principality stadium, amid a quiet evening, AS Monaco announced that Folarin Balogun has replaced the injured USMNT forward Ansu Fati in its UEFA Conference League squad as the club prepared its roster for the upcoming matches this Thursday.
Ansu Fati, the USMNT forward, was nursing an injury when the club named its initial squad.
Balogun is only just working his way back to full fitness after returning from the FIFA World Cup with an injury.
He was a surprise omission when Les Monégasques named their ECL squad back in September.
The former Arsenal and Stade de Reims forward came off the bench to net his first goal of the season in Sunday’s 3-1 defeat to Paris FC.
Monaco reinstate U.S. striker Balogun for Conference League
Balogun will now be eligible to face Nordsjaelland on Thursday in the Conference League after Fati was withdrawn from the squad.
Ansu Fati, the Spaniard, sustained a hamstring injury during the 1-1 draw against Lille OSC at the end of October.
He will now miss the chance to face his former club Brighton and Hove Albion in the League Phase.
It is estimated that he could miss six weeks of action.
Monaco have started their Conference League campaign with back-to-back wins.
