Augsburg breaks record and puts Bayern Munich under pressure in the Bundesliga

At the Allianz Arena, where the sun was just shining through the windows, Bayern Munich started with the ball, but a sloppy pass from the 40‑year‑old goalkeeper Manuel Neuer to defender Robin Fellhauer led to the fastest goal ever in the Bundesliga, a 2‑2 draw with Augsburg.

Record goal breaks nine‑second mark

Just eight seconds after kickoff, Fellhauer struck the ball into the net, breaking the previous nine‑second record held by Kevin Volland (Hoffenheim, 2015) and Karim Bellarabi (Bayer Leverkusen, 2014). The record, which had not been broken since the Bundesliga's founding in 1963, underscored the early pressure Augsburg applied on the record champions.

Bayern Munich had the ambition to take over the top spot from Borussia Dortmund in the Bundesliga, but the draw offered no step in that direction. The German giant started the match with a strong start, but the early setback hampered their momentum. Despite several chances, the lead remained elusive.

In the second half Bayern seemed to turn the tide when Luis Díaz scored a beautiful volley, but the referee disallowed it for off‑side. A minute later Ismael Saibari found the way to the goal, after a cross from Harry Kane, making the score 2‑1. Two additional Bayern goals were also disallowed because the players were off‑side.

Augsburg responded immediately through Rodrigo Ribeiro, who put the lead back to 2‑1. Bayern then found an equaliser through Nathaniel Brown, causing the match to end in a 2‑2 draw. Coach Vincent Kompany saw his side create chances, but no further scorer came.

The quick goal and the shared point show that Bayern Munich is still under pressure in the race for the Bundesliga title, while Augsburg proves that they are capable of surprising big clubs.
