Arsenal's £80m Bid for Guimaraes Rebuffed

🇬🇧 By 4AllFootball ·

Arsenal's reported £80 million bid for Newcastle United captain Bruno Guimaraes has been rebuffed, with the Magpies insisting no formal offer has been received despite circulating club-to-club rumours. The Northern Echo confirmed the stance on Friday ahead of the team's La Manga pre-season camp.

Arsenal, the reigning Premier League champions, have expressed genuine admiration for the Brazilian midfielder and see him as a player who can add creativity and depth to their midfield options.

There has been no public push from Guimaraes, and analysts consider it unlikely he will force a move away from Newcastle.

Newcastle's refusal to engage preserves squad stability after the summer exits of Anthony Gordon to Barcelona and Sandro Tonali to Tottenham.

The club also emphasises that Guimaraes, a Brazil-World-Cup midfielder, is expected back at the training ground on Friday and will join the La Manga camp as planned.

Arsenal's interest therefore remains unfulfilled, with no formal approach recorded by Newcastle United.

The move would have been a significant one for Arsenal, but Newcastle's stance has put an end to the speculation for now.

The decision is also a testament to Newcastle's determination to keep their key players, especially after a summer of significant transfers in the Premier League.
