Antwerp secures 15‑year‑old Ryan Vermeersch with first professional deal

🇧🇪

At the Bosuil stadium, 15‑year‑old Ryan Vermeersch celebrated signing his first professional contract with Royal Antwerp FC, the Belgian club that has been his home since he was eight. The right‑footed flank attacker, who logged minutes for the U18 side last season, now joins the senior roster.

Antwerp announced via its official channels that Vermeersch is a right‑footed flank attacker. The club described him as a promising talent who has been with the Red‑White side since the age of eight.

"I am incredibly happy and proud that I have signed my first professional contract with Antwerp," Vermeersch said. He thanked his parents, the academy director of RAFC, his trainers and physical coaches for their belief in him.

He also expressed gratitude to the staff of the topsportschool, noting that their support allowed him to balance football with his studies. Vermeersch highlighted the importance of combining education and sport for his development.

"My big ambition is to keep developing every day, make my debut at the Bosuil as soon as possible and become a regular for the Red Devils," he declared. He acknowledged that the national team already has several options on the flanks, but he believes in his long‑term potential.

"Step by step moving up is the goal. I am already looking forward to the next season with the U18," Vermeersch added, emphasizing his desire to prove himself among his peers. He understands the need to earn his place before targeting senior appearances.

Antwerp also recently announced the contract extension of Christopher Scott, underlining the club's focus on securing both emerging and established talent. The dual news reflects Antwerp's strategy to build a stable squad amid an uncertain situation.
