Anichebe consortium in advanced Bromley takeover talks

Victor Anichebe, former Super Eagles striker, is reportedly on the verge of completing a takeover of English club Bromley, which plays in EFL League One.
He is leading a wealthy African consortium currently in advanced negotiations to acquire the Ravens.
Anichebe, 38, is holding talks with Bromley owner Robin Stanton‑Gleaves to finalise an agreement.
Bromley have struggled to adjust to life in League One despite a remarkable rise through the English football pyramid.
The South London outfit secured promotion from the National League to League Two in 2024.
They earned another promotion to League One at the end of last season.
Bromley's turbulent start
The club currently occupies the bottom position in the league table.
Bromley have managed just nine points from their opening 13 matches.
They possess the division’s worst goal difference of minus 20.
Their poor start resulted in the dismissal of manager Andy Woodman on October 22, ending his five‑and‑half‑year spell in charge.
Woodman, 55, said he was upset at the manner of his exit after a 4‑0 defeat to Leicester City last month.
Bromley have failed to win any of their three matches since his departure.
The club faces an early battle to avoid relegation.
Anichebe's credentials and ambitions
Anichebe has developed a growing interest in sports investment since retiring from professional football in 2018.
He is founder and owner of Lumira Group, an investment company with interests in sports, education, healthcare and infrastructure across the United Kingdom.
He was recently involved in a proposed £20 million leisure development project in Liverpool.
He previously attempted to acquire non‑league club Gateshead last year, but that takeover did not materialise.
During his playing career, he had stints at Everton, West Bromwich Albion and Sunderland in the Premier League between 2006 and 2017.
He scored 27 Premier League goals and registered 12 assists across his spells with the three clubs.
He made over 200 Premier League appearances.
He played 168 times for Everton, scoring 26 goals in all competitions.
He played 63 games for West Brom, netting nine goals.
He played 19 games for Sunderland, scoring three goals.
He earned 11 caps for the Super Eagles and scored once for Nigeria in a 3‑0 friendly win over Kenya in 2011.
He won a silver medal with Nigeria’s U‑23 Dream Team at the 2008 Beijing Olympics, scoring a goal against Japan.
He hopes to make his mark in English football from the boardroom rather than on the pitch.
He is set to become a football club owner for the first time as he leads his group in final negotiations for Bromley.
