Andre Onana's £100k Chinese Rolls‑Royce smashed in Turkey crash
Man United goalkeeper Andre Onana, 30, was involved in a multi‑vehicle collision on Thursday night, 23 October 2026, in Turkey, when a high‑speed car struck his £100k Honggi E‑HS9 – nicknamed the ‘Chinese Rolls‑Royce’ – on Yomra road near Trabzon and then ploughed into another vehicle.
Why Trabzonspor rely on Onana
Onana re‑joined Trabzonspor on loan this season after the club signed Senne Lammens, leaving a gap for an experienced stopper in a side chasing European spots. The Cameroonian has started every league and Conference League match so far, providing stability after a troubled spell at Old Trafford. His presence helped the team climb to fourth place, three points behind leaders Galatasaray.
Accident and aftermath
The rear‑end impact caused severe damage to the right‑hand bumper before Onana’s car hit the vehicle in front, prompting a swift emergency‑services response. Images showed scattered debris and a crumpled front end as crews worked on Yomra road.
Onana was taken to hospital but was released after checks came back clear. He is married with a young son, though it is not confirmed whether family members were in the car. Trabzonspor president Ertugrul Dogan said: “Andre Onana was involved in a road traffic accident earlier this evening. There are no problems with him, and we wish him a speedy recovery.”
Hours earlier the keeper kept a clean sheet in Trabzonspor’s 2‑0 UEFA Conference League win over Hearts, marking his fourth shut‑out in five games. The performance has made him a fan favourite and cemented his role as the side’s defensive cornerstone.
In the league the club has beaten domestic heavyweights Besiktas and Galatasaray by an aggregate 6‑0, with Mohamed Salah scoring a hat‑trick against Galatasaray. Onana’s contributions have been pivotal in maintaining a strong defensive record.
Onana joined Manchester United from Inter Milan in the summer of 2023 for a fee reported at between 43 million and 43.8 million pounds. His United contract runs until 2028; he made 72 appearances for the club before being replaced by Senne Lammens and is unlikely to wear the United shirt again.
Trabzonspor return to league action against Rizespor next Monday, giving Onana time to rest if medical staff deem him fit. He has already made 42 appearances for the Turkish side, keeping six clean sheets and sitting one shy of that tally as the campaign progresses.
