Anderlecht eyes Portuguese Vítor Bruno as new head coach

RSC Anderlecht is weighing Portuguese Vítor Bruno, 43, as the successor to Jérémy Taravel, with the club having started its new‑season preparations on Monday and still lacking a head coach. Bruno has been unemployed since early 2025 after being dismissed by FC Porto, and he previously oversaw a 2‑2 Europa League draw against Anderlecht.

Antoine Sibierski and Anderlecht have placed Vítor Bruno on their radar as a candidate to replace Jérémy Taravel. The club hopes to make a decision at its Neerpede training centre in the coming weeks.

Bruno was dismissed by FC Porto in early 2025 after only half a year in charge due to disappointing results. The six‑month spell remains his sole experience as a head coach.

In the Europa League group stage that season, Porto, under Bruno, faced Anderlecht and the match ended 2‑2. That encounter was the only European fixture Bruno managed as a senior coach.

Before his brief tenure at Porto, Bruno spent many years as the trusted assistant of former Standard player Sergio Conceiçao. Together they worked at Nantes, Vitoria Guimaraes, Braga and later FC Porto. Anderlecht also confirmed the official return of Jean Kindermans.

The club expects to announce its coaching appointment shortly as preparations continue at Neerpede. Anderlecht aims to stabilise the squad ahead of the upcoming domestic campaign.
