€35 million price tag fuels Sunderland’s chase of Argentine Matias Soule

🇬🇧 By 4AllFootball Editorial ·

€35 million (approximately £30 million) is the price Sunderland are prepared to meet for Argentine striker Matias Soule, whose future at Roma remains uncertain. The 2003‑born forward returned to the capital yesterday after a holiday in his homeland and is set to begin a training camp at Trigoria tomorrow, as Sunderland push to secure his services for the Premier League.

Interest from Borussia Dortmund and Arab clubs surfaced in June but did not turn into offers. Consequently, English clubs, led by Sunderland, have become the most active suitors.

Roma have placed a €35 million valuation on the 2003‑born forward, a figure Sunderland consider reasonable. The Northern Echo reported the English side finds the price acceptable for a striker of his calibre.

Sporting director Florent Ghisolfi, who orchestrated Soulé’s transfer to Roma in the summer of 2024, is now tasked with persuading the Argentine to move to England. He points to the opportunity to reunite with former teammate Enzo Le Fée, with whom Soulé shared his first season at Trigoria. Ghisolfi believes this link could tip the decision in Sunderland’s favour.

If the deal is completed, Soulé would join Sunderland before the new season, bolstering their attacking options. The club expects to announce the signing before the transfer window closes as it continues to monitor any further developments.
