Javier Tebas Says Florentino Pérez Still Pursues Superliga

🇪🇸

LaLiga president Javier Tebas said on Wednesday that Real Madrid president Florentino Pérez has not abandoned his European Superliga project. Tebas added that Pérez has merely changed the strategy behind the initiative.

Tebas acknowledged that he and Pérez have a known cultural clash over their vision of football. He described the disagreement as a "cultural confrontation" regarding how the sport should be organized.

Despite the shift in approach, Tebas emphasized that the Superliga concept remains alive. He indicated that the change does not mean the project has been dropped.

The remarks come as discussions about a breakaway league continue across Europe. Tebas' comments reflect ongoing tensions between league authorities and clubs seeking a new competition format.

Tebas said the differing viewpoints illustrate broader disagreements within Spanish football. He noted that the cultural clash influences how proposals are received by the governing bodies.

Tebas suggested that future dialogue will focus on the new strategy and its impact on LaLiga. He implied that the conversation will address how the revised plan could affect the domestic and European football landscape.
