Manchester City’s £10m chase for Leicester prodigy Jeremy Monga

🇬🇧

Manchester City have entered the race to sign Leicester City teenage attacker Jeremy Monga, with the Foxes demand a minimum £10 million fee. The 16‑year‑old, who will turn 17 this month, is set to become a professional on 10 July, triggering the transfer cost.

Arsenal and Brentford are also monitoring Monga, with the Gunners reported as the most advanced in their pursuit. The competition underscores the high demand for the teenager among Premier League sides.

Manchester City have long admired Monga’s potential and are understood to have made enquiries in recent days. Their involvement adds a heavyweight contender to the bidding pool.

Monga has already agreed to a one‑year scholarship contract that will convert into a professional deal on 10 July. Consequently, any interested club will need to meet Leicester’s minimum £10 million transfer price.

The Foxes have fielded Monga in 37 matches, making him the third‑youngest player to appear in a Premier League fixture. Only Arsenal’s Max Dowman and Ethan Nwaneri have debuted at younger ages.

Securing Monga would give Manchester City a rare teenage talent capable of developing within their squad. It also intensifies the rivalry with Arsenal, who are currently the frontrunner in the chase.

For Leicester City, a £10 million fee would provide a substantial return on a home‑grown prospect. Losing Monga could, however, diminish their attacking options for the upcoming season.
