LaLiga unveils 2026-27 calendar, dates set for El Clásico and derbies

🇪🇸

In a hall filled with Spanish football personalities, the 2026-2027 LaLiga calendar was unveiled, confirming that the Primera División will kick off on 16 August and wrap up on 30 May, while the Segunda División begins a day earlier on 15 August.

The schedule also outlines the fixtures for the women's top tier, Liga F, alongside the men's competitions. All 20 Primera División clubs now have a fixed path from Matchday 1 to 38.

The Segunda División season will start on 15 August and conclude with promotion playoffs between 9 and 20 June. Those dates set the timeline for the second‑tier clubs' campaign.

The Copa del Rey final is slated for 24 April, and the Spanish Super Cup will feature semifinals on 2 February followed by the final on 7 February. These cup dates sit within the broader league calendar.

Opening matchday will showcase high‑profile clashes, with Barça facing Athletic and Real Madrid taking on Real Sociedad. Those fixtures mark the first competitive games of the season.

El Clásico will be played twice in the league, the first encounter at Camp Nou on 25 October and the return leg at the Bernabéu on 9 May. The dates highlight the rivalry’s prominence.

The Madrid derby will see Atlético host their city rivals at the Metropolitano on 20 September, before travelling to the Bernabéu on 4 April. Both matches echo the historic rivalry.

On the final matchday, Atlético will visit Betis, Barça will meet Getafe, and Real Madrid will host Deportivo de La Coruña. The closing round completes the season’s schedule.

The calendar sets the rhythm for clubs and supporters across Spain for the coming season.
