Feyenoord turns down €30m Al Hilal offer, exposing policy split
Feyenoord has rejected a megabid from Saudi Arabia's Al Hilal for 24‑year‑old forward Anis Hadj Moussa, with the offer reportedly exceeding thirty million euros, the club announced today. The decision underscores a shift in Rotterdam's transfer policy and comes amid interest from other European clubs.
Martijn Krabbendam said on the VI Oranje Podcast that there is a great amount of interest in Hadj Moussa and confirmed a megabid from Al Hilal. He estimated the figure at around thirty million euros and added that insiders at Feyenoord had rejected the proposal.
Krabbendam contrasted the approach of former technical director Dennis te Kloese with that of current technical director Dévy Rigaux. He explained that te Kloese would have sold the player early to create calm and cash, whereas Rigaux prefers to chase the highest possible fee.
Newcastle United and Aston Villa have also been linked with the 24‑year‑old attacker. Their scouting reports suggest they view Hadj Moussa as a potential addition to their squads.
Krabbendam believes the likelihood of Hadj Moussa remaining in Rotterdam next season is small. He suggested that, should Feyenoord sell the forward, the club could turn its attention to NEC to acquire Ouaissa and reinforce other positions.
The megabid was first disclosed by , which cited the Saudi club's offer as exceeding thirty million euros. Feyenoord's board confirmed the rejection later in the day.
