Anderlecht confirms Taravel as assistant under new head coach
RSC Anderlecht confirmed Jérémy Taravel will remain as assistant coach under the club’s incoming head coach. The decision follows Sunday’s 3-0 loss to Union Saint-Gilloise.
Sunday’s defeat marked Anderlecht’s final match before summer break. Union Saint-Gilloise, league runners-up and cup winners, dominated the fixture.
Club president Wouter Vandenhaute reiterated Anderlecht’s commitment to Taravel despite the heavy defeat. Taravel, 36, joined Anderlecht’s staff in 2023 after retiring as a player.
Union Saint-Gilloise secured their first league win over Anderlecht since 1947. The result extended Anderlecht’s winless streak to seven matches.
Taravel will assist the new head coach, whose appointment is expected in the coming weeks. Vandenhaute stated the club prioritizes stability in the technical staff.
Anderlecht ends the season with 12 points behind Union Saint-Gilloise in the league table.
